The Pirates have placed Jameson Taillon on the 15-day DL with shoulder fatigue, and they're expected to promote Steven Brault to start tomorrow.
There's no word on the seriousness of Taillon's injury. Between Triple-A and the big leagues, he has pitched about 90 innings so far this year after pitching no competitive innings the previous two years, so it might not be bad for him to limit his innings a bit. (And the injuries that kept him out of action then weren't shoulder-related, so this recent injury doesn't seem to be a continuation of anything that's happened before.) Obviously, though, when one hears "DL" and "shoulder" about a very promising young pitcher, it's cause for concern. We'll likely find out more tomorrow.
Brault, one of the two pitchers the Pirates acquired a while back in the Travis Snider trade, has never pitched in the big league. He's fared very well so far at Indianapolis, with a 2.57 ERA, 44 strikeouts and 15 walks in 35 innings. He himself missed time earlier this season due to a leg injury. He last pitched on Thursday, so he's on normal rest for tomorrow.
