Cannonballs coming: Taylor Hearn debuts

Bradenton was off.

-- Indianapolis (56-55) beat Columbus, 5-4.  Frank Duncan gave up six hits and three walks in six innings, but only two runs.  He struck out six.  Jorge Rondon nearly blew a three-run lead in the ninth.  Edgar Santana (pictured) made his AAA debut with a perfect inning, striking out one.  Danny Ortiz and Gift Ngoepe hit back-to-back HRs, Ortiz' 13th and Ngoepe's sixth.

-- Altoona (59-49) beat Richmond, 5-2.  Cody Dickson recovered from a rough first inning to last six, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks.  He struck out four.  Montana DuRapau fanned the side in the ninth for his 18th save.  Barrett Barnes stayed hot, going 2-4 with a double.  Justin Maffei was 3-4.

-- West Virginia (53-54) lost to Hagerstown, 6-2.  Dario Agrazal allowed four runs on eight hits in five and two-thirds innings.  Taylor Hearn made his Pirates' debut and gave up two runs, one earned, in two innings.  He gave up two hits and a walk, and struck out one.  Hearn didn't get hit hard.   The two hits he allowed were a bunt and an infield single back to the mound.  His own throwing error set up one of the runs.  Carlos Munoz was 2-3 with a double.

-- Morgantown (20-24) lost to State College in 11 innings, 5-4.  Starter Cam Vieaux went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk.  He struck out two.  Kevin Mahala went 2-6 with his first pro HR.  Arden Pabst was 3-5.

-- Bristol (16-23) gave up seven runs in the fourth inning and lost to Johnson City, 11-5.  Starter Ike Schlabach got torched for nine runs, seven earned, in two and two-thirds innings.  Five Bristol errors, three of them by Raul Siri, didn't help.  Daniel Cucjen went 3-5 with a double and Siri hit his second HR.

-- The GCL Pirates (16-18) beat the Tigers West, 9-5.  The Bucs had 15 hits.  Overage ringer Henrry Rosario went 4-5 with a triple and drove in four runs.  NDFA signee Boomer Synek went 3-5.  Second round draft pick Travis MacGregor had a rough start, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk in three and two-thirds innings.  He struck out two.

-- The DSL Pirates (18-31) swept a doubleheader from the Indians with a pair of two-hit shutouts, 6-0 and 5-0.  In the first game, Sergio Cubilete went five innings, allowing a hit and three walks while striking out two.  Eumir Sepulveda threw the last two, fanning four.  Carlos Garcia went 2-2 with a double and a walk.

In the second game, Wilmer Contreras allowed just a hit and fanned seven in four innings.  Randy Jimenez struck out another four in two and a third innings.  Rudy Guzman was 2-2.
