Cannonballs coming: Hutchison debuts, Osuna HRs twice

Kevin Sousa-USA TODAY Sports

Bristol was off.

-- Drew Hutchison made his debut in the Pirates' organization as Indianapolis (57-55) beat Columbus in 11 innings, 5-4.  Hutchison's performance didn't do a lot for perceptions of the Liriano trade, as he had trouble throwing strikes.  He gave up four runs on four hits and four walks in seven innings, and fanned five.  Jose Osuna hit a pair of HRs, his fifth and sixth in AAA, and drove in all four of the Indians' runs in regulation.  Jason Rogers singled in Alen Hanson, who had doubled, in the 11th.  Hanson finished 2-5, as did Osuna.

Josh Bell:  2-6
Gift Ngoepe:  3-5, 2B
Dovydas Neverauskas:  2 IP, 2 H, K

-- Edwin Espinal, who entered the game in a double switch, hit a walkoff HR, his sixth HR of the year, to give Altoona (60-49) 2-1 win over Richmond in 12 innings.  Brandon Waddell allowed one run over seven innings.  He gave up seven hits and three walks, and struck out six.  Elvis Escobar made his debut as Harold Ramirez' replacement, going 2-5.

Kevin Newman:  1-4, BB
Jin-De Jhang:  2-4, BB

Kevin Kramer:  0-5
Connor Joe:  1-3, BB
Michael Suchy:  2-2, 3 RBI

-- West Virginia (53-55) lost to Hagerstown, 7-1.  Logan Sendelbach gave up three runs on eight hits in five innings.  He walked one and struck out six.  Logan Hill went 2-4 with a double.  He's now hitting 317/382/561 in the season's second half.

-- Morgantown (20-25) lost to Mahoning Valley, 4-3.  Matt Anderson gave up two runs on two hits and two walks in two innings.  He struck out one.  Luis Escobar threw the next five innings, allowing two runs although he gave up only two hits and a walk.  He struck out five.  Hunter Owen was 2-3 with a walk and Kevin Krause hit his third HR.  Austin Meadows continued his rehab, going 0-2 with a walk.

Stephen Alemais:  1-3
Will Craig:  1-5

-- Jacob Taylor, drafted in the fourth round in 2015, made his return from Tommy John surgery in the GCL Pirates' (16-19) 10-6 loss to the Jays.  It could have gone a little better; Taylor gave up a single, walk and HR, then departed.  Raul Hernandez hit his third HR.
