A couple quick notes:
-P- Chris Stewart had arthroscopic knee surgery. We knew his season was over anyway, and he apparently learned from the procedure that he will not require microfracture surgery, which would have been a much bigger deal. The Pirates anticipate that he'll be ready for Spring Training.
-P- The Marlins have designated old friend Bryan Morris for assignment. He missed most of the season due to a back injury and was scheduled to hit arbitration again this winter, but he likely would not have cost much (having made just $1.35 million this year), and he's been relatively effective throughout his career. His peripherals are underwhelming, though (which is mostly why I was okay with the Pirates cutting bait on him in the first place), and his velocity was down a bit this year. The Bucs traded him in 2014 for the draft pick that they eventually turned into Connor Joe, who's coming off an okay year as Bradenton's third baseman.
