The Cardinals have announced that Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton will not waive his no-trade clause to land in St. Louis.
The Cardinals and Giants have been reported to be deepest in talks to acquire the slugger.
#STLCards owner Bill DeWitt: “We had an agreement to acquire Stanton . . . We have been notified that he will not waive his no-trade clause to come to St. Louis.”

GM John Mozeliak: “We felt this was a great landing spot for him, but it was not meant to be.”
However, it does appear more teams may be in the mix for Stanton, including the Cubs, who have lost out on Shohei Ohtani.
