Baseball Prospectus released its PECOTA forecasts today, and PECOTA apparently (I’m not a subscriber anymore, unfortunately) projects the Pirates will win 81 games. USA Today, meanwhile, predicts the Bucs will win 80.

This afternoon, I’d like to open the floor to you on the question of how many games the 2017 Pirates will win, while also pointing you to our FanPosts section on the right side on the main page. Scroll down to the FanPosts, click “post your own” at the bottom of the section, and let us know how you think the Pirates will do this year, explaining your reasoning along the way.

How will the Bucs’ new outfield alignment affect the team’s pitching staff? How will Josh Bell and Jameson Taillon fare in their first full years? What kind of impact will Tyler Glasnow have? Can Ivan Nova sustain his post-trade-deadline no-walks magic? Can Felipe Rivero sustain his post-trade-deadline tons-of-walks magic? Will Daniel Hudson be a good reclamation project? Will Tony Watson succeed at closer? Let us know in the FanPosts, and don’t forget to post your win total, so you’ll have proof of your clairvoyance when the Pirates prove you right.
