Conversation with Jameson Taillon

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Boston Red Sox Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

With no Pirates game tonight I thought I’d share a conversation I had with Jameson Taillon on Tuesday afternoon. I’ve had a chance to speak with Jameson periodically over the past three or four years and he is one of the most enjoyable, thoughtful and interesting players I’ve spoken with.

The news of the Starling Marte suspension had just hit so I opened with that. We went on to talk about the thrill of pitching in Fenway Park, the use of his two-seamer vs the four-seamer, the new emphasis on pitching up in the zone and of course the “Let’s Dance” performance against the Cubs. The interview starts at the 23:40 mark. I can’t recommend this one enough.

Also, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about Starling Marte and his use of PEDs. I think my take is a little different than most. I wrote about it here.
