Here’s a thread to discuss today’s 10-3 loss to the Marlins, in which the Pirates blew a very early 3-0 lead and lost Chad Kuhl, who left the game after being struck in the knee by a line drive.
When Trevor Williams entered in relief of Kuhl in the fifth, the Bucs had a 3-2 lead. Williams, though, gave up two walks and then a two-run single.
The Marlins added to the lead in a big way in the seventh, when they scored six runs against Daniel Hudson and then Johnny Barbato.
At least John Bormann got into the game. When I received an email from the Pirates about the Bormann move this afternoon, I couldn’t even immediately remember who that was. He entered with a meaningless pinch-hit appearance in the ninth and struck out. That will probably be his one career big-league plate appearance, which is one more than almost everyone else gets.
