I was born and raised in the Philadelphia burbs and my Mom was a huge Phillies fan but every summer I'd spend a month at my grandparents in Derry Pa and one summer my uncle who lived in Latrobe took us to Three Rivers to see a Pirates-Reds game. We sat in the RF seats near the wall and between innings the great Roberto would come to the wall and talk to the fans. All the kids like me would crowd against the railing and Roberto would smile and joke around and just be Roberto. No way not to be a lifelong Pirates fan after that. Spent the rest of the month listening to Bob Prince
on the radio. Those were the days!
