Cannonballs Coming: Clay Holmes has poor outing

Indianapolis (36-30) lost an ugly game to Charlotte 12-4. Clay Holmes was on the hill and lasted only 4 1-3 innings, surrendering six hits with six walks and four runs. Casey Sadler relieved Holmes and gave up a two-run double. Not to be outdone, Antonio Bastardo came on and served up a three-run homer. Brett McKinney kept with the theme, giving up four runs on seven hits in only two innings. Austin Meadows was out of the lineup.

Altoona (35-29) had their game suspended midway through the fourth inning. At that point Austin Coley had thrown 3 1-3 innings with four strikeouts, and Jordan Luplow was 2-2 with a double.

Bradenton (36-28) had the night off.

West Virginia (29-35) was crushed 8-2 by Kannapolis. The Intimidators beat up on James Marvel, who gave up five runs in 3 2-3 innings. Brent Gibbs (2-4 with a double) led a quiet Power offense. Blake Cederlind rebounded with three hitless, scoreless innings and five strikeouts.

The DSL Pirates (6-6) defeated the DSL Astros Orange 7-2. Oliver Garcia allowed one run over five innings and recorded four strikeouts. Kyle Simmons was 2-3.
