The Pirates announced a round of nine draft-pick signings on Tuesday. All nine players picked were college draftees: Jason Delay (fourth round), Deon Stafford (fifth), Jared Oliva (seventh), Blake Weiman (eighth), Bligh Madris (ninth), Beau Sulser (10th), Tristan Gray (13th), Gavin Wallace (15th) and Nick Valaika (24th).
The MLB.com story also indicates Delay, a catcher from Vanderbilt, and Valaika, a shortstop from UCLA, will be assigned to rookie-level Bristol. The other signings will go to the short-season-A West Virginia Black Bears.
Jim Callis reports Oliva signed for slot value at $200,000. None of the other bonuses have been reported.
The Pirates had previously signed first-round pick Shane Baz for a $4.1 million bonus, $68,000 over slot.
The Record, in Stockton, Calif., has reported the Pirates will sign sixth-round pick Cody Bolton, though that has not yet been made official.
