According to Pirates Prospects (sub. req’d), shortstop Cole Tucker has been placed on the minor league disabled list with a fractured right thumb. Given the typical recovery time for such an injury, P2 estimates that he could miss a significant portion of the remainder of the season.
After a rough April in which he batted 230/320/276, Tucker had a strong May, showing significant power for the first time as a pro. He put up a line of 304/391/545 for the month and was named to the Florida State League All-Star team. He also was leading all the minors with 27 stolen bases. Tucker previously missed about half of the 2015 season and part of 2016 as a result of labrum surgery.
