Indianapolis lost 2-0 to Toledo and journeyman left-hander Anthony Vasquez, who only allowed five singles in a complete-game shutout. Drew Hutchison threw six solid innings with a 65% strike percentage while allowing two runs on five hits, but that was more than enough for the Mud Hens given Indy's listless offense. Austin Meadows was 1-4 with one strikeout.
Gift Ngoepe 1-4
Austin Meadows 1-4, 1 K
Chris Bostick 0-4, 2 K
Drew Hutchison 6 IP, 5 hits, 5 K, 2 walks
Altoona fell 6-2 to Harrisburg as Yeudy Garcia turned in yet another unimpressive outing. He allowed six runs through 4 2-3 innings while giving up six hits and six walks with only one strikeout. He came into this game with a FIP well over 6.00 in his last four games. The Curve scored a run on a Kevin Kramer single in the third and a Jerrick Suiter home run (2) in the fourth. Aside from that, it was a quiet evening for the Curve bats. Tate Scioneaux pitched another scoreless inning.
Kevin Newman 1-4, 1 K, 1 walk
Kevin Kramer 1-4 , 1 K
Jordan Luplow 0-4, 2 K
Elvis Escobar 2-4
Yeudy Garcia 4 2-3 IP, 6 hits, 1 K, 6 walks
Bradenton finally played a baseball game and defeated Dunedin 2-1. Gage Hinsz turned in a solid performance, throwing five scoreless innings with five strike outs and two walks. It has been an extremely disappointing year for Hinsz, who came into the game with a FIP of 5.77 and a K-BB under 4%. Jordan George came across the plate in the fourth on a fielding error to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead. An unsung hero of the 2013 season, Brandon Cumpton promptly gave the lead back in the sixth. But Will Craig (3-4) singled home Logan Ratledge in the seventh as Bradenton regained the lead. Daniel Zamora pitched a scoreless ninth for the save. Zamora is quietly having an impressive season with an ERA under 1.00 and a FIP of 1.99.
Ke'Bryan Hayes 1-4 (.573 OPS over last 10 games)
Will Craig 3-4, 1 K, 1 walk
Logan Hill 0-4, 3 K, 1 walk
Casey Hughston 1-4, 3 K
Gage Hinsz 5 IP, 4 hits, 5 K, 2 walks
West Virginia was beaten soundly by Delmarva 6-2. The Power couldn't get anything going on offense, recording only four singles and Matt Anderson only lasted three innings, having allowed four runs. Trae Arbet was 0-4.
