Pirates release Josh Lindblom

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates have released right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom.

The team had signed Lindblom to a minor league deal after he spent 2015-16 in Korea. He had a good spring and they called him up in early May. He made four appearances with them, all in relief, with an ERA of 7.84 and WHIP of 2.03. He went on the disabled list with “left side discomfort” two weeks later and the Pirates outrighted him to Indianapolis a month after that. Altogether he pitched 37.2 innings in AAA, with a 4.06 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.
