— With Steve Brault promoted, Indianapolis (54-45) went with a bullpen game against Gwinnett. The strategy worked out well, but the offense provided little support and the Indians took a 2-1 loss. Indy managed only six hits and the only run came in unexciting fashion, on a single followed by a wild pitch, fly out and grounder.

— Bradenton (54-41) lost to Clearwater, 4-3. Cam Vieaux gave up all four runs but still went seven innings. He allowed nine hits and two walks, and struck out three. The Marauders went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Most of the offense came from Jordan George, who went 2-5 with a double and his eighth HR.

— West Virginia (43-51) scored ten runs in the fifth inning on its way to a 16-2 laugher against Lexington. Trae Arbet (pictured) and Clark Eagan had huge games. Arbet was 4-5 with three doubles, three runs and four RBIs. Eagan was 4-4 with a triple, his fifth HR, three runs and four RBIs. James Marvel gave up two runs on seven hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

— Bristol (8-22) scored two runs in the eighth to take a 4-3 lead over Burlington, but newly promoted Hector Quinones gave up two in the bottom of the inning and the Pirates went on to lose for the eighth time in nine games, 5-4. Starter Hunter Stratton gave up a run in four and two-thirds innings. He allowed four hits and two walks, and fanned five. Henrry Rosario went 2-3 with a walk, a double and his fourth HR.

— The GCL Pirates (9-14) beat the Phillies, 4-1, in the first game of their doubleheader. Mason Martin went deep for the fifth time in nine games. He was 2-3 overall. Starter Leandro Pina gave up one run on four hits over six innings. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out two. Victor Ngoepe was 3-3.

The Pirates lost the second game, 6-2. Jacob Webb threw two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out one. David Lee made his second pro appearance and took the loss. He gave up three runs, two earned, on three hits, with one strikeout in one inning. Portorreal was 1-3 with his third HR.

— The DSL Pirates (24-18) won a 1-0 game from the Dodgers2. There were only five hits in the game, just two by the Pirates. Osvaldo Bido threw the first five innings, allowing two hits and a walk, and striking out one. Luis Arrieta threw the last four, giving up a hit and a walk, and striking out four. Sherten Apostel increasingly seems to be getting pitched around; he was 1-1 with three walks. The only run scored in the eighth on three walks and a sacrifice fly.
