Cannonballs coming: Starling Marte, Jordan Luplow go deep

— Indianapolis (47-38) lost to Columbus, 6-5. Indy trailed by four in the ninth, but a three-run HR by Starling Marte made the final a one-run game. Marte was 2-4 with a walk and also had a steal. Jordan Luplow was 2-3 with a walk and his second AAA HR. Drew Hutchison had his worst start in six weeks, giving up six runs on eight hits and two walks in five and two-thirds starts. He struck out four.

— Altoona (42-40) lost to Binghamton, 4-3. Jerrick Suiter went 2-3 with a walk and his fifth HR. Jin-De Jhang was 2-3. J.T. Brubaker started but only lasted three innings. He gave up four runs on eight hits. Brubaker walked one and struck out three.

— Bradenton (45-35) lost to Palm Beach, 3-2, in 14 innings. Cole Tucker was 2-4 with a double and a walk. Cam Vieaux gave up 11 hits but only two runs in seven innings. He struck out two and didn’t walk anybody.

— West Virginia’s (36-43) game with Lexington was suspended in the bottom of the third with one out and the Power trailing, 6-2. James Marvel was obviously have a rough start, with all the runs earned. Albert Baur was 2-2 and Adrian Valerio 1-2 with a double.

— Morgantown (10-6) lost to Mahoning Valley, 4-1. The Black Bears had only three hits and fanned 14 times, including Sandy Santos in all four ABs. Starter Gavin Wallace threw four shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking none and striking out four. Nick Economos gave up all the runs in relief.

— Bristol (4-10) beat Kingsport, 9-4. Luis Perez was 2-4 with two doubles, while Henrry Rosario drove in three. Evan Piechota gave up four runs in four and a third innings.

— The GCL Pirates (2-7) lost to the Phillies, 7-2. Austin Shields had sort-of an encouraging start. His control problems continued in the early going, as he walked two and threw a wild pitch in the first inning. After issuing single walks in the second and third, he retired six straight, so he ended up going five. He allowed two hits and struck out one. The Pirates had only six hits.

— The DSL Pirates (18-10) beat the Dodgers2, 7-1. Francisco Acuna went 3-5 with two triples and Sherten Apostel hit his first HR of the year. Starter Jose Marcano gave up a run on four hits and a walk in five innings, striking out three. Pablo Santana threw four shutout innings for the save, allowing three hits and a walk, and striking out two.
