The Pirates are in the process of trying to get Jung-Ho Kang into the Dominican Republic to play in the Dominican Winter League, general manager Neal Huntington said.
Dominican radio station Grandes en los Deportes originally reported this.
Kang, of course, is unable to enter the United States after receiving a two-year sentence, suspended for eight months, after a DUI accident in South Korea in the offseason.
When last we heard, the front office was not optimistic about Kang’s return to the country or the team. It’s unclear how far along the process is with the Dominican Republic and where that leaves anything with the U.S., but apparently the Pirates haven’t given up all hope just yet.
