One minor item: The Pirates traded Indianapolis outfielder Eury Perez to the Marlins. No return was announced, but at most it’ll be loose change.
Bradenton was rained out.
— Indianapolis (59-52) got thrashed by Columbus, 10-1. Starter Drew Hutchison gave up two runs on nine hits in six innings. Most of the damage came against Brett McKinney, who allowed eight runs while recording just two outs. The offense had only five hits.

— Altoona (57-52) scored five times in the first and coasted to a 10-5 win over Erie. Jin-De Jhang and Wyatt Mathisen had huge games. Jhang had a triple and his second HR in five ABs, and drove in five runs. Mathisen went 5-5. J.T. Brubaker managed to get through five innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits.

— West Virginia (49-57) edged Delmarva, 5-4. Adrian Valerio led the offense, going 2-4 with a double and his seventh HR. Arden Pabst was 2-4 with a double. James Marvel gave up three runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked none and struck out seven.
UPDATE: After the game, Marvel was told (sub. req’d) he’s being promoted to Bradenton.
— Morgantown (25-18) lost to State College, 7-2. Sergio Cubilete pitched five strong innings, but gave up five runs in the sixth. Nick Economos let two of those runs score, along with one of his own. Cubilete was charged with six runs on eight hits in five and two-thirds innings. He walked none and struck out five. Deon Stafford went 2-4 and drove in both runs.

— Bristol (9-32) took an early 4-0 lead and led 6-3 in the middle of the seventh. But, no, they didn’t win. Cuban signee Dany Hernandez gave up five runs without retiring a batter in the seventh and the Pirates went on to lose to Kingsport, 9-6. Starter Hunter Stratton made it through just three and two-thirds innings, walking six and allowing three runs. Luis Benitez was 3-4.

— The GCL Pirates (12-22) lost to the Tigers West, 7-3. Starter Roger Santana gave up four runs, three earned, in four and a third innings. Austin Meadows continued his every-other-day rehab, playing seven innings in center field and going 1-4 with a triple. Victor Ngoepe and Gabriel Brito each had two hits. The Pirates whiffed 15 times.

— The DSL Pirates (27-25) lost to the Brewers/Indians, 5-4. Starter Luis Arrieta gave up a run on two hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out three. Francisco Acuna entered the game as a pinch hitter and went 2-2 with a triple and a walk.
