Jung-Ho Kang breaks silence

Jung-Ho Kang spoke perhaps the most on-record since his offseason drunk-driving arrest and conviction in South Korea, giving an interview published in two parts to the Yonhap News Agency. Kang expressed contrition over his misdeed and enthusiasm towards returning to baseball with the Dominican Winter League and, perhaps eventually, the Pirates.

“Something like that must never happen again, and I am trying to be a better man,” Kang said.

The interview is worth your time, though it’s also worth noting no news regarding Kang’s status for entering the United States and returning to play for the Pirates is contained.

Kang also said he has been in communication with Pirates players — Andrew McCutchen, Starling Marte and Francisco Cervelli are named — and that he’s kept up with the team’s games in the mornings in South Korea.
