Astros looking for high-end starter

According to owner Jim Crane, the Houston Astros are “actively pursuing a high-end starter.” This obviously could impact the Pirates, especially if Houston isn’t able to sign free agent Yu Darvish. The MLBTR piece also mentions Jake Arrieta, Chris Archer and, of course, Gerrit Cole. The Astros certainly have the prospects to make a deal happen, although they’re going to be very reluctant to part with their top two, RHP Forrest Whitley and OF Kyle Tucker. Their next two, arguably, would be RHP J.B. Bukauskas and OF/1B Yordan Alvarez. They also have 1B/3B Colin Moran, who kinda looks like a younger version of David Freese; 3B J.D. Davis, who’s basically a power-only guy; and the usual assortment of live-armed guys.
