Though 2018 did not end as they hoped it would, Pittsburgh Pirates fans have plenty to be thankful for from this past season.
Welcome to Bucco Breakfast, a new daily morning feature designed to help Pittsburgh Pirates fans through the offseason. Each day we’ll roll out a quick topic designed to spark conversation as well as provide some interesting baseball reading from around the web.
Today we are deviating from this week’s BB theme because, well, it’s Thanksgiving!
What are you thankful for, Pittsburgh Pirates fans? Today’s the day to let us know.
Perhaps you are thankful that the organization seems to be on steady ground at the very least. While a lot has to go right for the club to seriously get into true contention, most can agree that the spot in which the team finds itself would be almost unfathomable as recently as 2016.
Maybe you are thankful that the Pittsburgh Pirates were the big spenders at the 2018 trade deadline for once, bringing in the big fish in Chris Archer while hauling in a blue chip reliever in Keone Kela.
If you’re the abstract-type, maybe you are thankful for the Pirates breaking free of their tired pitch to contact manta. You could be thankful for Elias Diaz finally looking like an everyday big leaguer, Corey Dickerson showing he can play well enough in the field to stay in the lineup for a National League team, Felipe Vazquez’s extension or something else entirely.
Let us know in the comments what you are most thankful for, from a baseball or even non-baseball perspective.
From all of us here at Bucs Dugout, we are thankful for your readership and your constant engagement, which helps BD keep its reputation as the best spot online for PIttsburgh Pirates news, analysis and opinion. Thank you all!
