Game Thread: White Sox come to town to face Trevor Williams

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago White Sox Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports

After the Pirates swept two game in Chicago last week the White Sox make a trip to Pittsburgh for two more. Right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (0-2, 2.44) who lost to the Pirates in his last start despite allowing only two runs in 7 1/3 innings, will be opposed by Trevor Williams (4-2, 3.13) who’s been touched up a bit in his last two starts, allowing a total of seven runs in 10 2/3 innings.

The White Sox’ top young player, switch-hitting second baseman Yoan Moncada, who the Red Sox signed out of Cuba for $31 million three years ago, returns to the lineup and will leadoff. He’s hit six homers this year en route to a .868 OPS. Chicago will send three switch hitters and two lefties up against Williams.

The Pirates are back to the standard weeknight lineup after Francisco Cervelli’s short lived debut at leadoff.
