Cannonballs coming: Joe Musgrove gets bombed in rehab outing

— Joe Musgrove got hammered in what’s expected to be his last rehab outing as Indianapolis (20-18) lost to Durham, 12-3, in a game shortened to seven and a third innings by rain. Musgrove lasted six innings, but gave up ten hits and six runs. He walked two and struck out five. Casey Sadler had an even rougher time, giving up six runs, four earned, while recording only one out. Kevin Newman stayed hot, going 3-4. In his last eight games, he’s 20-for-35 (.571). Chris Bostick was 2-4, both doubles.

— Dario Agrazal had an uncharacteristically bad start as Altoona (19-18) lost to Portland, 8-4. Agrazal got hammered for seven runs on ten hits over six innings. He walked none and struck out five. Jason Martin, as usual, provided much of the offense, going 3-5 with a double. He’s batting 369/422/623. Josh Harrison served as DH and went 1-4. Christian Kelley came out after reaching on an error in the third.

— Bradenton (22-19) beat Palm Beach, 5-1, in 11 innings. Cam Vieaux went seven innings, giving up one run on six hits. He walked two and struck out one. Relievers Jess Amedee and Scooter Hightower combined to fan eight over four innings. Hightower even managed to keep both fake runners from scoring in the two extra innings. Jared Oliva led the offense, going 2-5 with a double, a walk and three RBIs. He’s 12-for-31 in his last seven games.

— West Virginia (23-15) lost to Lexington, 6-0. Sergio Cubilete gave up five runs on six hits in five innings. He walked one and fanned six. Ike Schlabach threw three shutout innings in relief, giving up just a hit, walking none and striking out three. The Power managed only three hits, with Cal Mitchell going 2-4 with a double.
