Game Thread: Kuhl faces Anderson in rubber match in Milwaukee

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Washington Nationals Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Chad Kuhl (3-2, 5.01) takes the mound for the seventh time this season as the Pirates try to take two of three in their weekend series. The Brewers counter with right hander Chase Anderson (3-2, 3.38)

Anderson has been averaging 92 mph on his fastball, using a four-seamer in 44% of his pitches and a two-seamer 15% of the time, followed by change up 21% and Curveball 16%. So far this year his walk rate is up a bit to 3.2 per 9 innings while his strikeout rate, 6.1, is down near 2 12 from last year and 1 12 below his career rate.

Clint Hurdle sticks with his standard lineup for the Pirates, now saving Thursdays as a time to rest his starters. Ryan Braun, who had last night’s game winning hit, starts for the Brewers for the first time in the series, batting third at first base.
