Cannonballs coming: Kang struggles in Triple A debut

Triple-A

Indianapolis(32-29, 2nd place of Western Division) lost to Toledo 4-1. Alex McRae allowed 4 runs over 5.1 innings and the Indy bats couldn’t solve the Mud Hens pitching. Indianapolis only garnered three hits and struck out 14 times. Jung Ho Kang struggled in his Triple A debut. He was 0-4 with 3 Ks and a groundout and seemed to have trouble with breaking pitches.

Kevin Newman: 0-3, walk

Jordan Luplow: 0-4, 3 Ks

Kevin Kramer: 0-4, 2 Ks

Adam Frazier: 1-4

Double-A

Altoona(29-28, 3rd place of Western Division) had the night off.

High-A

Bradenton(31-27, 3rd place of Southern Division) was canceled due to weather.

Low-A

West Virginia(32-28, 3rd place in Eastern Division) defeated Augusta 5-2. Domingo Robles turned in a strong start going 7 innings and only allowing 1 run while recording 8 strike outs. The Power jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Oneil Cruz’s double was the key hit in the inning. Cruz and Deon Stafford would add RBIs in the fifth inning to stretch the Power lead to 5-0. Things got dicey in the bottom of the ninth as Ike Schlabach gave up a three run homer and Augusta climbed back to within a run. But Beau Sulser came in to replace Schlabach and slammed the door earning his first save.

Cal Mitchell: 1-4

Deon Stafford: 0-5, 3 Ks

Domingo Robles: 7 IP, 8 Ks, 3 hits

Rookie

—The DSL Pirates1(4-4) defeated the DSL Redsox2 5-3. Juan Pie was 2-4 with two doubles and a walk. Pie has an OPS of 1.389 in 27 at bats.

Emilson Rosado: 3-4

Joseivin Medina: 2-5, 2 doubles

—The DSL Pirates2 (1-7)lost to the DSL Royals2 5-3.

Angel Basabe: 2-5, double
