Indy, Altoona, and West Virginia all had the night off.
--Bradenton (29-23) defeated Florida 5-2 as Jung Ho Kang exploded with four hits including a two run homer. The first two at bats were reminiscent of 2015 Kang where he seemed in control of the at bat even with 2 strikes. While there are no guarantees with Kang being able to help the Pirates, one could not have asked for a better start than he’s had with Bradenton. He is now batting .500 with 2 homeruns in 12 at bats with three walks. Luis Escobar started for the Marauders and lasted 6.2 innings only allowing one run with five Ks. He did allow three free passes. Jared Oliva got the Marauders on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first when he hit a homerun (6) to left field. Recently promoted lefty Blake Weiman(33% K rate at West Virginia) worked 1.1 innings with two Ks.
Jung Ho Kang: 4-5, homerun(2), stolen base
Jared Oliva: 1-3, homerun(6), walk
Adrian Valerio: 2-5, double
Mitchell Tolman: 0-4, 3 Ks
The Dominican Summer League has begun. For whatever reason, I have had a difficult time finding the links to these games on the MILB site.
--The DSL Pirates 1 defeated the DSL Cubs 1 by a score of 7-3. Juan Pie(reported to have signed for 500K) hit his first homerun of the year. Ronald Paulino was playing first base and also hit a homer. Shendrik Apostel(who I believer is Sherten’s brother) was 1-3 with a double.
Jesus Valles 4.1 IP, 3 runs(2 earned), 6 Ks
Andres Arrieta 3 IP, 0 runs, 3 Ks
