Game Thread: Pirates Pitchers vs. Pirates Hitters

MLB: Atlanta Braves at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates will try to prevent getting swept by the Braves Wednesday by attempting to touch that home plate thing more often than Atlanta. Trevor Williams (10-9, 3.53) will put his hot streak on the line against Julio Teheran (8-7, 4.24) at 7:05 p.m..

Williams has been arguably the hottest pitcher in baseball over his last six starts. Since July 11, he has recorded a 0.75 ERA in 36 innings pitched. That is the lowest in baseball among pitchers with at least 25 IP in that stretch. (Here’s a shameless plug of a story I recently wrote on that.)

He hasn’t had any help from the offense lately, though. The Pirates have scored just one run this series after just scoring five runs in a four game set against the Cubs. It may be time to break out the cigars and rum for Jobu.

One more note: former Bucco Chris Stewart is back with the Braves for tonight’s game.
