Games

The GCL Pirates were off, and West Virginia and Bristol were rained out.

— Jason Martin hit a walkoff single in the ninth as Indianapolis (64-51) beat Lehigh Valley, 4-3. Nick Kingham started and gave up two runs on six hits in five innings. He walked two and struck out two. Jesus Liranzo followed with two scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out three. Damien Magnifico gave up the tying run in the eighth and Michael Feliz threw a scoreless ninth to get the win. Martin’s hit was his only one in five at-bats; he now has just four hits in his last 44 ABs. Ryan Lavarnway was 3-4 with a double and his ninth home run.

Kevin Newman: 0-4, BB
Kevin Kramer: 1-3, BB
Max Moroff: 1-4, 3 K

— Altoona (60-51) got edged by Trenton, 2-1. Dario Agrazal allowed the two runs on seven hits in six innings. He walked none and struck out two. Stephen Alemais was 1-4 with a double, and scored the only run.

Cole Tucker: 0-2, 2 BB
Ke’Bryan Hayes: 1-4
Bryan Reynolds: 1-3, BB
Will Craig: 1-4

— Bradenton (50-58) lost to Charlotte, 3-2. Starter Mike Wallace gave up three runs over six innings. Blake Weiman retired all six batters he faced. Adrian Valerio was 1-4 and Bligh Madris 2-4. Jared Oliva didn’t play. He was taken out late in last night’s game, so he might be hurt but he’s not on the disabled list.

— Morgantown (18-34) couldn’t hold a 2-1, eighth inning lead and lost to State College, 3-2. Nick Economos had a good start, allowing just an unearned run over five innings. He gave up five hits and a walk, and fanned seven. Daniel Amaral and Jhoan Herrera each went 2-4 with a double. Grant Koch was 1-3 with a triple and a walk, Connor Kaiser was 1-4 and Mike Gretler was 0-4.

— The DSL Pirates1 (26-31) got flattened by the Cubs1, 14-3. Oddly, the hits on each side were even at seven, but Pirates pitchers walked eight and hit two. Bryan Torres (17) pitched for the first time in two weeks, allowing a run and one hit in two innings, with no walks or strikeouts. Carlos Arroyo (17) was 1-4 with a double and Daniel Rivero (17) 1-3 with a walk.

— The DSL Pirates2 (23-34) scored seven in the first inning and coasted to a 9-5 win over the Royals2. That first inning consisted of four hits, three hit batsmen, an error, and six steals, including one of home. Three Pirate pitchers survived 17 hits. Starter Braham Rosario (18) gave up one run on seven hits in five and a third innings. He walked one and struck out four. Mario Jerez (17) was 3-4 with a walk and Angel Basabe (17) 2-5 with three strikeouts.
