The Pirates will play their final game in Miller Park this season, taking on the Brewers at 2:10 p.m.. Trevor Williams (12-9, 3.28) will go for the Bucs, while the Brew Crew will counter with Jhoulys Chacin (14-7, 3.54).
Williams had his first poor start in over two months in his last outing, getting tagged for four runs in five innings in St. Louis on Sep. 10. That start is just a blemish in what has been a phenomenal second half of the season, recording a 1.21 ERA in his past 10 outings (59.2 IP, 8 ER).
This will be Chacin’s fifth start against Pittsburgh this year. So far, he’s held the Bucs’ bats in check, allowing seven runs in 23.2 IP. Despite those good numbers, the Pirates have won in three of his four starts.
Jordan Luplow will bat cleanup and play right field today for the Pirates. He has reached base safely in seven of his eight appearances this September- with the exception being a failed pinch-hit cameo on Sep. 10. He is slashing .350/.458/.650 this month with four RBI in 24 PAs.
