The coaching staff overhaul is in full swing as the Pirates have dismissed pitching coach Ray Searage and bench coach Tom Prince. Pittsburgh let go of manager Clint Hurdle several days earlier.

All the other coaches from manager Clint Hurdle's staff "are candidates to remain on the big league staff pending the conclusion of the
managerial and coaching staff hiring process," per the team
Injuries decimated the pitching staff this year but it doesn’t excuse the poor performance by the rest of the arms. Only the Colorado Rockies posted a worse team ERA.
Along with Searage, Prince was removed from his post as the team played to the tune of roughly 30 games under .500 after a somewhat hopeful first half of the 2019 season. Pitching aside, the offense was also mightily inconsistent through the summer.
It was announced that the remainder of the team coaching staff is subject to further organizational development in the coming weeks.
