Guess the Score Game: Preseason Organization Post

Since the first Spring Training game is today and I have a few minutes, I thought this would be a good time to start figuring out how season 8 of the GSG will be organized.

For anybody new to the Guess the Score Game, here are the basics (I am in a bullet point mood, so forgive me):

1. The Guess the Score Game is a "fantasy" baseball game where you guess the score of the next Pirates game.

2. You get 2 points for guessing one team's score (team score) and 5 points if you guess both team's score (game score). Points are tallied on a weekly and season basis.

3. The scoring week is Monday through Sunday (unless that would break up a weekend/holiday series). I am the resident scorekeeper, referee, and historian (more or less).

4. I usually post one scores update (Thursday/Friday) and a weekly wrap-up (Sunday-Tuesday). These posts are permanent.

5. Somebody (more on this later) will do a separate post before each Pirates game (the entire weekend series is posted on Thursday/Friday to maximize participation)

6. These posts are removed 2-3 days after the scores update/weekly wrap-up is posted. This gives players a chance to "check" my scoring and inform me of discrepancies. For the record, I do make mistakes.

7. The game posts are deleted as to not "clog up" the Fan Post "front page" with out-dated posts that nobody will ever look at again and at the expense of non-GSG posts. This is our way of being good BD community members.

8. During the weekly wrap-ups, weekly winners are named, first-half and season champions are crowned, and a few basic stats are kept. After all, it would not be baseball without stats.

For Season 8, I will continue to act as scorekeeper, referee, and historian (hopefully, more than less). For the first few years, I posted both game and scores posts, with Chiburgh with others backing me up. When that became two much for my non-GSG schedule, Chiburgh graciously took over duties as primary game poster.

However, at the end of last season, Chiburgh announced that she will no longer be able to do the game posts regularly, if at all. Hence, the need for reorganization.

I am in need for volunteers/ideas on how to handle game posts for this season. So, please feel free to use the comments section for ideas/comments/volunteering.

Thanks!
