Game Thread: Tucker, Reynolds Make MLB Debut

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates-Media Day Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Jameson Taillon (0-2, 3.43) will try to get in the win column with a greenhorn lineup Saturday, with the Pirates starting highly ranked prospects Cole Tucker and Bryan Reynolds.

Tucker and Reynolds will start at shortstop and center field, respectively. On Friday, Erik Gonzalez and Starling Marte collided on a bloop up the middle. Marte has been placed on the 10 day injury list with an abdominal wall contusion, and Gonzalez has been placed on the 60-day IL with a left clavicle fracture.

Elias Diaz- who was sidelined most of spring with an illness- has completed his rehab assignment and is in Pittsburgh, too. No roster move has been made for him yet.

The Giants will start Derek Holland (1-2, 4.09). He went 2-0 against the Pirates last year, allowing five runs- four earned- in 12.2 IP.

First pitch is at 4:05 p.m..
