Cannonballs Coming: Gregory Polanco starts rehab

One unfortunate news item: Gage Hinsz went on the injured list with a right forearm strain. Hinsz is supposed to be in the Altoona rotation, but will have to wait to make his AA debut.

— Indianapolis (1-3) finally got in the win column by scoring four in the ninth to beat Columbus, 5-2. A single by Jake Elmore, an error and a double by Ke’Bryan Hayes brought in the runs. Eduardo Vera made an impressive AAA debut with six scoreless innings. He gave up just three hits and a walk, and fanned six. Hayes went 2-5 with two doubles.

— Altoona (4-0) remained undefeated, edging Akron, 3-2, on an eighth inning RBI double by Logan Hill. On the day, Hill was 3-4. Bralin Jackson, who doubled before Hill’s hit, and Bligh Madris, who’s batting .353 in the early going, each went 2-4. Scooter Hightower gave up two runs on six hits in five innings. Vicente Campos got the win with two scoreless innings, including four strikeouts.

— Bradenton (3-1) took its first loss, 3-0, to St. Lucie. Gregory Polanco started his rehab, playing the whole game in right and going 0-2 with two walks. Max Kranick pitched well in his first start, although it took him 81 pitches to get through four shutout innings. He allowed two hits and three walks, and struck out seven. Dovydas Neverauskas also started a rehab, throwing a scoreless inning and striking out one.

— Raul Siri singled in the fake runner with one out in the tenth to give Greensboro (3-1) a walkoff, 2-1 win over Hagerstown. Brad Case gave up just a run on three hits and a walk in five and two-thirds innings. He struck out three. Samuel Reyes threw two and a third scoreless innings. Conner Loeprich got the win with two perfect innings. Chase Lambert was 2-4 with a triple and Lolo Sanchez was 1-4 with an RBI triple.
