According to an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Chris Archer has received a five game suspension for his role in instigating the brawl against the Reds on Sunday when he threw a pitch behind the back of Derek Dietrich, who in the previous inning had stood and admired a home run he hit into the river. Cincinnati’s Yasiel Puig also received a two game suspension, as he aggressively challenged several Pirates during the on field scrum.

The suspensions can be appealed and will wait until any appeals have been adjudicated. Although Archer received five games, in practical terms he will miss one start.
