The Pirates will make their second stop in their three city road trip Monday, heading to Arizona for some late night baseball.
This is the Pirates’ first and most likely only chance at revenge against the Snakes after being swept in a four game series from Apr. 22-25, being outscored 30-7 along the way.
Nick Kingham (1-0, 5.94) will make his second start of 2019. He allowed a two run home run in his first start against the Rangers on May 8, but was otherwise solid in his four innings of work.
He will face off against one of the game’s premier lefties, Robbie Ray (2-1, 3.30). Southpaws have given the Bucs trouble this year. Their .596 team OPS against lefties is the worst in baseball. The Pirates haven’t seen Ray since May of 2017, when he threw a complete game shutout.
In roster news, Jung Ho Kang was placed on the 10 day IL with a left side strain. Jake Elmore will take his place on the roster.
First pitch is at 9:40 p.m. Eastern time.
