The four-game series at Petco Park comes to an end this afternoon as the Pirates send Joe Musgrove (2-4, 3.59 ERA) to the mound to duel with Cal Quantrill (0-1, 3.60 ERA).

This is Quantrill’s third start of 2019. Musgrove is coming off a strong outing against the Diamondbacks where he went seven innings and allowed just one hit, no runs, two walks and struck out five hitters.

Josh Bell will look to continue to wreak havoc at the plate. The slugger is averaging a 96.4 MPH exit velocity through 116 batted ball events. He is one of six Pirates hitters with a 90+ MPH average exit velocity.

No hitter in today’s Padres lineup has faced Musgrove more than Manny Machado, who has six plate appearances with three singles. Today’s Pirates lineup has yet to face Quantrill.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 EST.
