Game Thread: Pirates Look To Avoid Sweep

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Pittsburgh Pirates Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

The Pirates will try to salvage at least one game against the Rockies Thursday afternoon at PNC Park.

Jordan Lyles (4-1, 1.97) will face another one of his former clubs again. He pitched for the Rockies from 2014-2017 before being designated for assignment in August of 2017.

At the moment, Lyles does not qualify for the ERA title by one-third of an inning. If he did, he’d be third in ERA in the NL.

The Rockies will start Antonio Senzatela (3-3, 4.89). He has a lower ERA on the road this year, sitting at 2.89 (21.1 IP, 7 ER), despite allowing harder contact away from Coors. At home, he has a .300 xwOBA allowed. On the road, it’s .389.

Elias Diaz will make another start behind the plate- his sixth over the Pirates’ last seven games. He’s slashing .476/.500/.476 in that stretch.

First pitch is at 12:35 p.m..
