Cannonballs Coming: Big day for Alex McRae

Altoona was off.

— Alex McRae (pictured) took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as Indianapolis (16-16) beat Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 4-2. He exited after allowing a two-out double. He finished with no runs, one hit and two walks allowed in six and two-thirds. He struck out five. Geoff Hartlieb stumbled to a save, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk in two and a third. He struck out four. Patrick Kivlehan went 2-4 with a double and his fourth home run.

— Bradenton’s game with Palm Beach was suspended with the Marauders ahead 1-0 in the third inning. It will be completed tomorrow.

— Greensboro (21-11) lost a 5-2 game to Delmarva, which is now 25-5. Osvaldo Bido had his first poor start of the season, giving up five runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked none and struck out five. The Grasshoppers got only one run off the Delmarva starter, Grayson Rodriguez, who was the Orioles’ first-round draft pick last year. (Then again, being a Baltimore pitching prospect is about like being a teenager who just had sex in a slasher movie.) Lolo Sanchez was 2-4 with double.
