Dario Agrazal has been recalled from AAA and will make his second major league start Wednesday in Houston.
Agrazal’s first start came on June 15, with him lasting four innings in Miami. He was charged with three runs- two earned- on six hits, striking out three with one hit batter. On the 15 batted balls he allowed, two were hit hard (95+ MPH exit velocity).
Granted, the Astros’ lineup is a little more potent than Miami’s. Houston’s .817 team OPS is the second best in the majors.
To make room on the roster for Agrazal, the Pirates optioned outfielder Jason Martin.
The Astros will start Framber Valdez (3-3, 3.61). The 25 year old left-hander will be making his fourth start of the season after starting the year in the bullpen. He turned in strong outings in his first two starts, but was tagged for five runs in 3.1 innings against the Yankees on June 20.
First pitch is at 8:10 p.m..
