Game Thread: Brault in the rubber match

The Pirates send Steven Brault to the mound in Sunday’s deciding game of the three game series with the Brewers at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Game time is 2:10 p.m. Eastern, with Zach Davies (7-2, 3.34) going for the Brewers.

Davis has faced the Pirates twice this year, in back to back starts at the beginning of June, with Milwaukee winning each game. It total, Davies allowed five runs in thirteen innings on fifteen hits and two walks, with six strikeouts. He’s lost his last two decisions over three starts, allowing twelve runs in eleven innings over that most recent stretch, on 21 hits and six walks.

Brault’s been on a run of rather good pitching, posting a 2.03 ERA in five starts since rejoining the rotation on May 29. In two of those five starts he left without allowing a run.
