On Sunday the Pittsburgh Pirates look to salvage just one game as they close out their three game series at Wrigley Field in Chicago at 2:20 p.m. Eastern, as they send right-hander Trevor Williams (3-2, 4.54) to face the Cubs’ left-hander Jose Quintana (6-7, 4.19)
Quintana faced the Pirates his last time out, allowing three runs in seven innings on July 4 as the Cubs left Pittsburgh with just that one victory. On Apri. 11 in Chicago, Quintana tossed seven scoreless innings. In seven career starts vs the Pirates, he has a 2.57 ERA.
Williams is looking to get back on track, having suffered three rough starts since his return from the Disabled List on June 19, allowing seven, four and five runs. He’s had thirteen days rest since his last outing on July 1 against the Cubs in Pittsburgh, allowing those five runs on nine hits and three walks in five and two thirds innings in a game that the Pirates won 18-5.
