Triple-A

Indianapolis (42-39) pulls out 7-6 win at Louisville (30-53)

The Indians tied the game 303 with a three run seventh, capped by PH Trayvon Robinson’s (323/400/504) two-run homer, his fourth of the year. Falling behind in the bottom of the inning, they replied with four more in the eighth, three on 1B Will Craig’s (255/333/476) 17th homer.

Starter Cam Vieaux (4-3, 3.36) had allowed only one run through four, a solo homer in the second, before running into trouble in the fifth, being charged with two more runs. In four and two third, he gave up five hits and three walks while striking out six.

LF Kevin Kramer (272/341/420) was 2-for-4 and 2B Erik Gonzalez was 0-for-4 in a rehab appearance.

Double-A

Altoona (43-37) comes from behind for 5-4 victory at Akron (39-44)

Down 4-2, the Curve scored three in the eighth for the win, two on a double by LF Chris Sharpe (278/369/441), then he scored on a double by 3B Robbie Glendinning (339/396/582).

Cody Bolton (6-4, 2.41) took a 2-1 lead into the fourth, but gave up a two-run homer in that inning and a solo shot in the fifth. Those are only the second and third home runs Bolton has surrendered all year. He allowed six hits and two walks in his five innings, striking out only three. Brett Sulser (7-0, 1.40) got the win with three scoreless, one-hit innings.

High-A

Bradenton (44-36) prevails 3-2 over visiting Jupiter (28-48)

Starter Gavin Wallace (2-3, 3.83) allowed only two runs, one earned, over seven innings, allowing seven hits and two walks.

DH Dylan Busby (228/316/496) had two hits, including his 17th home run, a solo shot in the sixth. CF Travis Swaggerty (223/314/323) also had two hits.

Low-A

Greensboro (51-30) outscores Hagerstown (33-49) by 9-7 mark

Down 3-1 in the fifth, DH Mason Martin (265/360/576) smashed a grand slam, highlighting a five-run inning. It was his 21st of the year.

Starter Steven Jennings (5-7, 5.07), the 2nd round pick in 2017, only lasted four innings, giving up three runs on three hits, including a two run homer, and two walks, without a strikeout. Conner Loeprich (4.65 ERA in 47 13 IP) relieved but wasn’t any better, allowing four runs in four innings on five hits and three walks, but was awarded the victory.

Besides the home run, Martin also walked three times and now has 79 RBI for the season. RF Jonah Davis (133/258/248) had two singles and two walks ans SS Ji-hwan Bae (311/399/402) had a single, double and a walk.

Short Season A

West Virginia (9-8) falls 7-5 at Auburn (8-8)

The Black Bears led 4-3 into the bottom of the eighth but a four spot by Auburn cost West Virginia the game.

Starter Winston Nicacio (2.40 ERA in 15 IP) allowed only one run, on a solo homer, through five innings, even though he was touched for four hits and four walks with only one strike out.

West Virginia knocked three home run, CF Brett Kinneman’s first. C Elys Escobar’s first, and LF Luke Magieri’s second.

Advanced Rookie

Bristol (6-7) wins 6-4 in 11 innings at Kingsport (6-7)

20 year old Bahamian right-hander Tahnaj Thomas finally turned in a quality start after two disastrous efforts, throwing 53 of 82 pitches for strikes (65%) while allowing three unearned runs in five innings on four hits and no walks. He fanned five.

2B Francisco Acuna (300/400/467) and C Eli Wilson (278/381/472) each had three hits, including Wilson’s second home run of the year.

Rookie

GCL Pirates (1-4) lose 12-7 at Braves (2-4)

The Pirates went down on strikes fourteen times, with ever batter fanning at least once, as Braves’ starter Tristan Beck, a 2018 4th round pick from Stanford, punched out eleven in four and a third innings.

Still, the game was tied at seven before the Pirates’ bullpen coughed up five runs in the bottom of the eighth.

3B Emilson Rosado and 2B Yoyner Fajardo each had three hits.

Dominican Rookie

Pirates-1 (11-15) 8-2 winners over visiting Red Sox-2 (12-12)
