The Pirates will try to close out the first half of the season on a strong note, starting a three game series with the Brewers Friday night.
The Brewers have been a thorn in the Pirates’ side all year, winning eight of their 10 meetings. A big reason why is they have been able to keep Josh Bell in check. Bell is slashing .103/.200/.154 in 45 PAs against the Brew Crew this season.
Pirates’ starter Steven Brault (3-1, 4.29) has been no stranger to the Brewers lately. He tossed 6.1 innings of two run ball on June 9 and then lasted 4.2 innings, allowing one run in his last outing on June 30. Both starts were in Milwaukee.
Zach Davies (7-2, 3.24) will go for the Brewers. He’s turned in three good starts against the Pirates this year, going 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m..
