The Pirates’ 2020 schedule was released Monday afternoon, and two of the largest draws from the AL East will be stopping by Pittsburgh next year.
The Pirates will start the season in Tampa Bay for a three game series against the Rays, starting on Mar. 26. Their home opener will be against the Reds on Apr. 2.
Most of the Pirates’ interleague games will be against AL East opponents. After starting in Tampa for three games, they will have a full series in Baltimore from Apr. 10-12 and then two in the Bronx on May 5 and 6.
The Yankees will come to Pittsburgh on June 16 and 17 for a two game set, followed by the Blue Jays for three games from June 19-21. The big ticket series of the year will be over Fourth of July weekend when the Boston Red Sox come to town (July 3-5).
As is tradition, the Pirates and Tigers will also have a pair of two game series. The Pirates will host Detroit on Aug. 18-19 and will travel to the motor city on Sep. 8-9.
Their longest road trip will be an 11 day, nine game trek from Apr. 10-20. Their longest homestand will be from Jul 31-Aug. 9, totaling 10 games.
The Pirates will have three series with the Cubs and two with the Dodgers before the end of April.
