Game Thread: Bucs and Fish Meet for Game Two

After an extra inning loss Monday night, the Pittsburgh Pirates will look to get back on the winning side of things against the worst team in the National League, the Miami Marlins. The Bucs lost two players to injury in last night’s contest in Jason Martin and Mitch Keller, so any result that doesn’t include injuries will be greatly welcomed by the 412 faithful. Tuesday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm Eastern, and right-hander Trevor Williams (7-6, 5.26) will take on youngster Robert Dugger (0-1, 4.50).

Dugger will make his third MLB start of his career on Tuesday night. He struggled mightily in his first outing at the New York Mets, allowing six earned runs over 5.0 innings. He walked four batters, hit two more, and allowed two homers on the evening. Dugger’s most recent outing was stellar though, as he allowed just two unearned runs over seven strong innings while letting up just three hits and walking one batter.

Williams has thrown two quality starts in a row leading up to this start, including a seven-inning, three-run outing in Colorado last time out. This will be a welcoming matchup for the up-and-down righty, as a weak lineup and his pitcher-friendly home park should (in theory) lead to a decent outing. He’ll look to keep the young Marlins bats quiet in this one.

Kevin Kramer has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Jason Martin’s place on the roster.
