After blowing a four-run lead to the Milwaukee Brewers last night in a 6-5 loss, the Pittsburgh Pirates will attempt to win their second game of the season tonight.
Derek Holland will make his Pirates debut. Holland was largely ineffective last season. Over 84.1 innings pitched with the Giants and White Sox, he had a 6.08 ERA. In 2018, the now 33-year-old lefty was much better as he recorded a 3.57 ERA over 171.1 innings pitched.
For the Brewers, former Pirate Josh Lindblom gets the start. Lindblom’s last major league appearance came with Pittsburgh in 2017, as he produced a 7.84 ERA in 10.1 innings. Over the last two seasons though, Lindblom was one of the best starting pitchers in the KBO. In 2019 with the Doosan Bears, the 33-year-old right-hander was 20-3 with a 2.50 ERA.
Tonight, the Brewers will trot out the exact same lineup as last night.
As for the Pirates, the lineup tonight has a completely different look than it did last night. If you aren’t drinking the Phillip Evans Kool-aid just quite yet (and I wouldn’t blame you), the 6-9 hitters in tonight’s lineup might not exactly get you jumping out of your seat. In fact, the second half of this lineup has a real black hole feel to it.
