Game Recap: Pirates vs Brewers 8/21/20

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates won a ballgame last night defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2.

Chad Kuhl was effective in his five innings, allowing just one run. Although he walked three and struck out one, he allowed only two hits. His only run surrendered came in the second inning on a Ben Gamel home run. Kuhl’s ERA on the season has now dipped down to 2.84.

The bullpen was impressive last night, allowing one run over four innings. The unit’s only blemish came on a Christian Yelich home run off of Richard Rodriguez in the eighth inning. Sadly for the Pirates though, Keone Kela was removed early from his outing due to forearm tightness.

Luckily, the Pirates were finally able to get the offense going in this game. Bryan Reynolds got things started in the second inning with a solo home run. He was 3-4 on the night with that home run and a triple. He also drove in four. Colin Moran and Cole Tucker were also 3-4. Tucker drove in two. Josh Bell was 2-3 with a walk. In all, the Pirates collected 14 hits.

This afternoon, Derek Holland (0-1, 7.36) will take the hill and oppose Josh Lindblom (1-0, 6.62). First pitch is at 4:05 on FS1.
