As you all know, I enjoy my trivia. Last night, after wading through numerous and nearly suicidal tweets concerning White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito’s no-no against the Pirates last night, I did a bit of research. For the record, the Pirates have been on the losing end of twelve no-hitters in their history. However, half of them came in the nineteenth century. Before Giolito, the last pitcher to no-hit the Buccos was Max Scherzer at Nationals Park in 2015. Homer Bailey tossed one at PNC in 2012, but before Bailey you have to go all the way back to 1971, when the great Bob Gibson blanked the Bucs at Three Rivers Stadium. You can all settle down now. Thanks to NoNoHitters.com for the info.

Today, the Pirates and the White Sox play the second and final game in this short series at 2:10 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Field Guaranteed Rate Field. Trevor Williams (1-4, 3.70 ERA, 23 K) will take the hill for the Pirates. Despite his dismal-looking win-loss record, Trevor’s actually had a somewhat decent August, striking out fourteen while only passing four batters in his three outings. The White Sox will send up Dallas Keuchel (4-2, 2.65 ERA, 19 K), who’s coming off an eight-inning 114-pitch win against the Cubs on August twenty-first.
