The Pirates will look to gain a split of their four-game wraparound series with the Brewers in Milwaukee when they square off tonight at Miller Park.

First pitch is set for 7:40 p.m., and the game will be telecast on AT&T SportsNet.

Trevor Williams (1-5, 5.34 ERA), whose name had been the subject of some trade rumors but who stayed put – like every other Pirate Monday — gets the start for the Bucs while southpaw Brent Suter (2-0, 3.68) opens for the Brewers.

The Pirates (10-21) used the longball Sunday to win for the first time in three weekend starts against the Brewers (15-18), 5-1, as Josh Bell slammed a two-run homer and Gregory Polanco contributed a solo shot.

Kevin Newman also contributed a pair of hits and drove in a run. Reliever Nick Tropeano, a recent addition to the club, earned his first win as a Pirate, throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings and allowing two hits and two walks while striking out two.

Although the Pirates didn’t make any deals Monday, they did make some news when several outlets reported that the club’s top position player prospect – third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes – would report to the team in time for Tuesday’s game with the Cubs in Chicago.

The club also activated Colin Moran from the seven-day concussion list and returned Will Craig to Altoona.
