Game Thread: Pirates vs Tigers, 8/8/20

After losing last night’s 17-13 marathon to the Tigers, the Pirates return to action this afternoon.

Derek Holland will take the mound for the Pirates. In two starts this year, he has been decent. Over 11.1 innings pitched, Holland has given up six earned runs (4.76 ERA). He was unlucky in his last start, giving up four earned over 5.2 innings. He would have given up just one run if not the for the defensive difficulties of Cole Tucker in centerfield.

For the Tigers, former Pirate Ivan Nova takes the mound. In two starts this year, Nova has given up five earned runs over 10.2 innings (4.22 ERA).
